Ravil Nogumanov Took Part in Ceremonial Events of the International Khapsagay Wrestling Tournament in Yakutsk
Yakutsk, Republic of Sakha — The capital of the region hosted the ceremonial opening of the II International Khapsagay Wrestling Tournament Grand Prix “Khangalas Khapsagaya,” which brought together around 500 athletes from 10 countries.
Ravil Nogumanov, Chairman of the Board of the International Koresh Belt Wrestling Federation, took part in the tournament’s ceremonial events. Among the distinguished guests was also four-time Olympic champion and long-time friend of the Koresh Federation, Alexander Popov, who in 2025 also attended the Koresh Belt Wrestling World Championship in Tatarstan.
The competition in Yakutsk gathered athletes from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Iran, India, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Mongolia, and Russia. The event, organized with the support of the Russian Union of Martial Arts (RSBI), became an important step in the development of international sports cooperation.
The two-day contests, held at the Triumph Center of Sports Training, became a true celebration of sport and friendship. The tournament, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the triumph of Yakut wrestlers at the Montreal Olympic Games (1976), brought together top representatives of national wrestling schools.
At the official opening ceremony, welcoming remarks were delivered to participants and spectators by: Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of Yakutia Leonid Spiridonov, Executive Director of the Russian Union of Martial Arts Ramil Gabbasov, President of the Russian and International Khapsagay Federation Vyacheslav Nesterov, Deputy Head of the International Secretariat of the World Nomad Games Bek Sakeev, as well as Head of the Khangalassky District Sergey Grebnev.
