The results of the World Koresh and Kyrgyz Kurosh Championships 2025

The World Championship in Koresh and Kyrgyz Kurosh has ended in the Republic of Tatarstan. More than 400 athletes, representatives and judges from 31 countries took part in the competitions in two types of wrestling. In Koresh, 11 sets of medals were played for among men, as well as 9 sets of medals among young men and team awards. In Kyrgyz Kurosh, athletes competed for medals in 8 weight categories among men and three among women.

The preliminary fights of the tournament took place in the Ak Bars Martial Arts Palace in Kazan. The final fights and ceremonial events of the championship took place on June 22 at a specialized site in the village of Minger in the Republic of Tatarstan.

The honorary guests of the tournament were the President of the International Koresh Federation Dzhaudat Minnakhmetov, the First Deputy Minister of Sports of Tatarstan Khalil Shaikhutdinov, the Advisor to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Medetbek Bukuev, the President of the International Federation of Kyrgyz Kurosh Ryskeldi Shamiev, as well as legends of world sports, including four-time Olympic champion Alexander Popov, Olympic champions Shamil Khisamutdinov, Pavel Pinigin, Murat Kardanov, David Musulbes, Alexey Mishin, Musa Evloev, as well as Olympic medalists and other titled athletes.

The guests expressed sincere joy to witness exciting fights with the participation of world-class athletes and to express gratitude to the President of the Koresh Federation Dzhaudat Midkhatovich Minnakhmetov, who is celebrating his 70th anniversary these days, sharing with him the joy of this significant event.

Four heavyweight wrestlers from Russia and Uzbekistan took part in the fight for the main prize of the tournament in the absolute category of koresh - a car provided by the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. Following the results of the semi-final and final matches, the holder of the absolute world champion title was the representative of the Russian team, Tatarstan native Radik Salakhov.
