Russia wins two gold and two silver medals in koresh competition at Astana World Nomad Games 2024
The Koresh competitions within the 5th World Nomad Games have ended in Astana. The Russian national team athletes won two gold and two silver medals. Alexey Abramov won gold in the 65 kg weight category, and Radik Salakhov became the strongest in the most prestigious absolute category (over 90 kg), having won in the final against his opponent from Kazakhstan. Dinar Karimullin and Azat Gabdrashitov became silver medalists, having lost in the final to representatives of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
The Koresh wrestlers took part in the Nomad Games as part of the unified team of Russia, formed by the Koresh Federation of Russia and the Committee of National and Non-Olympic Sports of Russia. The Unified Team of Russia included more than 150 athletes in 21 sports.
The Russian athletes performed with the support of the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Duma of the Russian Federation, as well as the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan. The ceremonial events of the competition were attended by the Chairman of the Board of the International Koresh Federation Ravil Nogumanov, the First Deputy Minister of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan Khalil Shaikhutdinov, the President of the International Federation Alysh Adilet Bayaman uulu, the General Director of the Kazakh Kurese Association Damir Bekbossynov, the President of the International Belbogli Kurash Federation Azizbek Ganiev and other honored guests.
