International Koresh Belt Wrestling Tournament Held at the Caspian Sabantuy in Baku

On June 13–14, the capital of Azerbaijan hosted an international koresh belt wrestling tournament as part of the Caspian Sabantuy celebrations. The competition brought together 100 athletes.

The winners in each weight category were:

• Up to 65 kg: Murad Mekhtiyev
• Up to 75 kg: Shirinkhan Asgarli
• Up to 85 kg: Khalil Murzayev
• Up to 100 kg: Abdulla Sharif
• Absolute Weight Category: Amrakh Ismailov

• Vasil Shaikhraziev — Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of Tatars
• Danis Shakirov — Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of Tatars
• Mikhail Yevdokimov — Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Azerbaijan
• Dmitry Pinevich — Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Azerbaijan

The tournament winners received medals and diplomas from the International Koresh Federation, as well as valuable prizes. A special award — a live ram — was presented to the absolute champion.

The winners also earned the right to represent their countries at the upcoming World Koresh Championship, which will take place in Kazan from June 25 to 28.

The tournament became a vivid example of strengthening sports and cultural ties between nations, demonstrating the growing popularity of koresh belt wrestling throughout the region.
