On December 7, the international belt wrestling competition Koresh (Tatar Koresh) was held in the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Baku. Athletes from 5 countries took part in the tournament. Based on the results of the final stage of the tournament, 5 sets of awards were played out, including the absolute category.
A delegation of the International Koresh Federation (President Minnakhmetov D.M.) arrived in Baku to hold the competition, led by the Chairman of the Board of the International Koresh Federation Ravil Nogumanov.
The competition was attended by honored guests: Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, Vice-Rector of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports Farid Mansurov, as well as two-time Olympic medalist, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in the Republic of Azerbaijan Irek Zinnurov.

The Azerbaijani national team takes part in international koresh championships in Russia, Turkey and Kazakhstan. The leader of the Azerbaijani national koresh team, heavyweight Jamal Feyziev, became the winner of the absolute category of the World Koresh Championship in Tatarstan in 2021, defeating one of the most titled koresh wrestlers of our time, Sergei Pavlik, weighing over 200 kg, in the final
