The Asia Koresh Belt Wrestling Cup Was Held in Kyrgyzstan

From August 27 to 31, the Asia Koresh Belt Wrestling Cup, an international Koresh wrestling tournament, was held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic, on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul.

Training sessions and preliminary bouts took place at the Orion Sports Complex. The final bouts and official ceremonies were held at a dedicated venue at the Tynchtyk Complex, located on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul.

More than 100 athletes from 16 countries took part in the competition.

Among the tournament’s distinguished guests were Ravil Nogumanov, Chairman of the Board of the International Kuresh Federation; Ryskeldi Shamiev, President of the International Kyrgyz Kurosh Federation; Andrey Slushaev, Chairman of the Spartak Russian Physical Culture and Sports Society; as well as heads of belt wrestling federations from Asian countries.

Following the Asian Cup, the Kuresh wrestlers continued their stay in Kyrgyzstan to take part in the World Nomad Games, which are being held in Cholpon-Ata during the same period. Kuresh is included in the official program of the Games as a sports discipline.
