Belt wrestling koresh continues to grow in North America

At the turn of 2024 and 2025, the International Koresh Federation resumed its activities in the United States, where it took place in a number of master classes, tournaments and business meetings of sports functionaries with the participation of famous athletes.

On December 29-30, in New York (USA), a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Board of the International Koresh Federation Ravil Nogumanov and representatives of the wrestling community of three US states (New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio) Sergey Kitaev, Nurtdin Bekirov and Abdulmalik Ganiev.

The functionaries discussed the development of traditional wrestling in North America using the example of Koresh wrestling. The result of the meeting was a memorandum of cooperation, which lays the foundation for the further promotion of Koresh in the United States.

The next point on the Koresh map in America was the legendary America Top Team gym in Miami. On January 2-3, the wrestling mat of the famous hall hosted a master class in Koresh from Olympic silver medalist Murad Gaidarov, as well as a Koresh competition, in the absolute weight category of which star guests took part:

- Andrei Arlovski, UFC heavyweight champion and one of the most famous figures in MMA, inspired the participants with his presence and shared professional advice.
- Mohammed Lawal (King Mo), former Strikeforce champion, enthusiastically supported the idea of combining traditional sports and MMA, noting the value of cultural exchange.

The national cultural and mass holiday "Sabantuy" is held annually in the United States, within the framework of which it is planned to hold a koresh competition in 2025. Moreover, a major international tournament with a significant prize fund is planned to held in 2026. This prospect was announced by the sponsor and activist of the Tatar community in the United States, sports functionary Robert Ismagilov - a native of Ufa, who worked for many years as the director of the largest children's sports school in Bashkortostan, and also held major all-Russian competitions.

On January 22-23, representatives of various wrestling federations took part in international koresh tournament at IMMORTAL martial arts center in Columbus, Ohio.
The tournament was organized by the International Koresh Federation in cooperation with the current wrestler and sports functionary Abdulmalik Ganiev, representing grappling.

The development of koresh in the United States continued with the invitation of the koresh national team to participate in the World Championship in Kyrgyz Kurosh, which will be held on April 4 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The invitation was sent within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation between the international federations of koresh and kyrgyz kurosh. Currently, a national team of 7-8 athletes is being formed, ready to receive a visa to participate in the competition. Compatriots living in the United States will also represent koresh at the competition in Cincinnati. About 150 athletes are expected to participate.

Koresh has been represented in the United States since 2018, when the first US koresh national team consisting of 6 athletes and 3 judges flew to Russia to participate in the World Championship. The delegation was headed by the president of the US koresh federation Brian Church and the former head coach of the Belarusian national freestyle wrestling team Sergey Kitaev. In 2019, the team again took part in the world championship, and in the USA, a master class on kuresh was held for the students of the WildCat wrestling club in Ohio. In the same year, kuresh was included in the program of the annual festival "Ohio State Fair" - the American analogue of the Tatar Sabantuy, which gathers 50 thousand guests

In the future, in addition to competitions in the USA, the federation plans to hold major international competitions in Latin American countries with the participation of famous wrestlers, including Olympic champions.
