A landmark working meeting with the delegation of the Koresh Belt Wrestling Federation was held at the headquarters of the World Ethnosport Union under the chairmanship of Bilal Erdoğan.
The negotiations marked an important step in strengthening international cooperation in the field of traditional sports and outlined new horizons for the development of koresh belt wrestling as an integral part of the global ethnosport movement.
The delegation of the Koresh Belt Wrestling Federation was led by Chairman of the Board Ravil Nogumanov and Vice President of the organization, Olympic silver medalist Murad Gaidarov. During the meeting, a comprehensive report on the Federation’s activities as a member of the World Ethnosport Union was presented. The document covered key areas of work, demonstrating a systematic approach to the development of this traditional form of wrestling.
The delegation of the Koresh Belt Wrestling Federation was personally supported by Turkish freestyle wrestler of Dagestani origin, Olympic champion, World and European champion Ramazan Şahin. Formerly the head coach of the Turkmenistan national team and currently the head coach of the Turkish national team, he took part in the meeting and confirmed his firm commitment to the development of koresh belt wrestling.
As part of the reporting presentation, the results of the Federation’s large-scale activities were presented in detail. Special attention was given to events held both in the regions of the Russian Federation and abroad.
Representatives of the Federation also presented strategic plans to improve the scientific and methodological framework aimed at enhancing the qualifications of athletes, coaches, and referees.
Following the meeting, the Secretary General of the World Ethnosport Union, Abdulhalim Aksu, announced comprehensive support for the development of koresh belt wrestling and outlined a set of measures aimed at strengthening the sport’s position. A key decision was the intention to involve all Turkish federations of national wrestling styles in the active development of koresh belt wrestling.
In addition, the parties discussed organizational aspects of the upcoming 2026 World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan, where koresh belt wrestling has been included in the preliminary program. Looking ahead, plans are in place to organize large-scale Ethnosport Games, which will become a new milestone in promoting traditional wrestling styles.
