International Koresh Competitions will be in Cholpon-Ata

From August 21 to 25, the picturesque city of Cholpon-Ata, located on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, will host traditional international koresh competitions. This tournament, which has long established itself as a platform for identifying the strongest wrestlers, will once again bring together athletes from different countries ready to compete for the title of the best.

Five sets of awards in various weight categories will be contested as part of the competition. Spectators will see exciting fights in the weight categories up to 65 kg, up to 75 kg, up to 90 kg, as well as in the absolute weight category (over 90 kg), where the most powerful and experienced athletes will meet on the mat.

Holding international koresh competitions in Kyrgyzstan has already become a good tradition. These events are an important part of the implementation of the memorandum of cooperation between the International Koresh Federation and the International Kyrgyz Kurosh Federation, aimed at developing and popularizing these types of wrestling on a global scale.

It is worth noting that in 2026 Cholpon-Ata will again host wrestlers, but this time as part of a large-scale sporting event – the World Nomad Games. Koresh, as one of the most spectacular and authentic types of wrestling, is included in the preliminary draft of the Games program, which emphasizes its importance and growing popularity.
