From May 16 to 18, the Republic of Tatarstan will host the international belt wrestling competition Koresh "CIS Championship". The ceremonial events and gala match of the championship will be held on May 18 on the territory of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve as part of the congress "Izge Bolgar Zhyeny". The festival will be the final event of the cultural program of the XVI International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum".
It is expected that the festival will be attended by Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, representatives of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, delegates from other regions of Russia, representatives of the spiritual administrations of Muslims of the Russian Federation, near and far abroad, delegates of Muslim communities from different parts of the country and the world, participants of the forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum".
The best Koresh wrestlers of the CIS countries will take part in the final of the gala match. In 2024, as part of the tournament's ceremonial events, a record was set for the International Koresh Federation in the discipline of "the greatest number of arching throws in 1 minute." With a result of 29 throws, the record was set by the Russian Greco-Roman wrestling champion, winner of the Koresh World Cup, representative of St. Petersburg Emil Ziganshin.
The record was recorded by a panel of judges chaired by the chief judge of international Koresh competitions, Olympic silver medalist, Honored Master of Sports Murad Gaidarov.
