The Koresh World Cup finals took place at Moscow Sabantui

More than a hundred wrestlers from 18 countries took part the Koresh World Cup which was held in Moscow from July 5 to July 7.

The preliminary matches of the Cup took place on July 5 in the sports hall of MSSUOR No. 1 of Moskomsport, and the ceremonial events and final matches took place on July 6 as part of the Moscow Sabantuy in Kolomenskoye Park.

The ceremonial events of the tournament were attended by Vice-President of the International Koresh Federation Ravil Nogumanov, President of the Moscow Koresh Federation Igor Nikolenko, as well as honored guests: Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin, Head of the Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations of the City of Moscow Vitaly Suchkov, Chairman of the Moscow City Duma Alexey Shaposhnikov, mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny Nail Magdeev and chairman of the Tatar autonomy of the city of Moscow Farit Farisov.


In total, 10 sets of awards were awarded at the tournament in weight categories from 60 to over 130 kg. Representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan met in the final. Azerbaijan, Guinea, Iran, Congo and Russia.

8 wrestlers competed for victory in the open weight category.

In the absolute final, Russian Ranis Gilyazetdinov from Naberezhnye Chelny defeated his Russian teammate Radik Salakhov, a native of Zainsk. Ranis Gilyazetdinov won the main prize from Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan - a car. Two weeks earlier, Gilyazetdinov became the owner of another Grant prize, winning the World Koresh Championship in Tatarstan.

The broadcast of the ceremonial events and matches of the Koresh World Cup was available on the “Sportivny” TV channel of the Tricolor TV holding. The main judge of the competition is Nafis Minnebaev.
