From July 3 to July 6, 2025, Moscow will host a large-scale international sporting event — the Koresh and Kyrgyz Kurosh World Cup. The tournament will bring together about 150 athletes from 17 countries, which promises spectacular fights and vivid impressions.
The preliminary stage of the competition will be held at the site of the Moscow Sports and Youth Sports Complex No. 1 of the Moscow Sports Committee, and the final fights and award ceremonies will be held on July 5 as part of the Moscow Sabantuy-2025 in the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve.
Traditionally, the Moscow Sabantuy is considered one of the largest Sabantuys, according to some estimates, more than 250 thousand guests visit it during the whole day, and the World Cup will become its key sporting event. In the final, fans will see unique fights in two types of wrestling. 11 sets of awards in Koresh and 5 sets of awards in Kyrgyz Kurosh will be played out. The winner of the absolute category in the koresh competition will receive the main prize - a car from the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The tournament will be attended by world champions, winners of the World Nomad Games, as well as famous wrestlers from other types of martial arts, including the Olympic silver medalist in freestyle wrestling Murad Gaidarov, who will compete in the light absolute weight category.
The holding of joint competitions became possible thanks to the memorandum of cooperation between the International Koresh Federation and the International Kyrgyz Kurosh Federation. The national wrestling of the Kyrgyz Republic, kyrgyz kurosh, and the traditional Tatar wrestling, koresh, have deep historical roots and significant technical similarities, and are already recognized in the international arena.
In 2025, Russia will host major joint competitions in these sports: the World Championship, which was held in June in Tatarstan and the World Cup in Moscow. Koresh is included in the program of the VI World Nomad Games, which will be held in Kyrgyzstan in 2026.
