Belt wrestling Koresh at the World Youth Festival in Sochi

As part of the World Youth Festival, held on the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science Valery Falkov met with the Minister of Higher Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development of the Republic of Zimbabwe Amon Murwira. At the end of this event, Minister Amon Murwira with the delegation of the Republic of Zimbabwe arrived at Sochi State University, where he met with the acting. Rector of SSU Igor Gaidamashko.



During the reception of the delegation, the university’s capabilities for classes during extracurricular hours in koresh belt wrestling were demonstrated. Nikolai Ivanov, teacher of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports, director of the educational center, coach of the Krasnodar Territory koresh team, told Minister Amon Murvira about the history and traditions of koresh wrestling, and the sports achievements of students in this type of martial arts. The guys performed demonstrations and demonstrated the technical arsenal of Koresh belt wrestling.

In our case, this is a unique opportunity to demonstrate national traditions in martial arts. Separately, I would like to note that belt wrestling Koresh will be presented as part of the sports program of the BRICS Games, which will be held in June in the city of Kazan, and we, as part of the Russian national team, hope to see wrestlers from the Krasnodar Territory.”
