On July 5-6, the Nationwide Koresh belt wrestling competition took place in Yoshkar-Ola as part of the federal Sabantuy. More than a hundred athletes from two dozen regions of Russia took part in the competition.
Athletes competed in three weight categories among boys under 18 and five weight categories among men. The final matches of the competition were attended by honored guests: Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, head of the Republic of Mari-El Yuri Zaitsev and others.
The winner in the absolute weight category and the owner of the main prize - a car from Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan was a native of Mari El, Musa Gallyamov. In the final, Gallyamov defeated the famous heavyweight wrestler representing the Kaluga region, Sergei Pavlik.
