President of the World Ethnosport Confederation Bilal Erdogan met with the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in Kazan

The head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov met in Kazan with the President of the World Ethnosport Confederation Bilal Erdogan, the son of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. At the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan they discussed cooperation in the field of sports and strengthening existing ties.

“Issues of further cooperation in the field of sports, strengthening existing ties, and participation in international sports competitions were discussed,” the press service of the Tatarstan leader said in a statement.

Minnikhanov thanked Erdogan for his attention to Tatarstan. According to the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, he does a lot to develop cultural and sports ties between different nations. He also recalled that in 2022, Koresh belt wrestling was included in the program of the World Nomad Games in Turkey - Minnikhanov called it “an integral component of the rich heritage of the Turkic peoples.” “This sport is unique - it preserves the religious and cultural traditions of our peoples and at the same time develops dynamically,” he emphasized.

In turn, Erdogan Jr. emphasized that he highly appreciates Minnikhanov’s contribution to the development of relations between Tatarstan and Turkey. “You are creating the very field that ensures strengthening between the Turkic peoples and between Islamic countries. And KazanForum serves as a platform that unites,” he said.

Erdogan also recalled that the forum of the World Ethnosport Confederation was held in Antalya this time. “Every time we organize such events in different places, and next year - we have already talked about this - we plan to hold it in the Russian Federation, namely in Kazan,” he added.

This is not the first time Minnikhanov holds a meeting with Erdogan’s son. In August 2022, he also came to the capital of Tatarstan and attended the Kazan Global Youth Summit.
