A master class and a koresh tournament in the USA

On December 27–28, a master class and tournament in koresh belt wrestling took place at the IMMORTAL Columbus USA Wrestling Club martial arts center in Columbus, Ohio, USA. A delegation of the Koresh Belt Wrestling Federation, headed by Chairman of the Board Ravil Nogumanov, arrived in the United States to conduct the event.

The master class in koresh belt wrestling and freestyle wrestling for more than one hundred athletes of the martial arts center was conducted by Olympic silver medalist and Koresh Belt Wrestling World Cup winner Murad Gaidarov. The chief referee of the competition was Brian Church. The event was held with the support of former head coach of the Belarus national freestyle wrestling team Sergey Kitaev and multi-discipline combat sports athlete Abdulmalik Ganiev.

Koresh belt wrestling has been represented in the United States since 2018, when the first U.S. national team consisting of six athletes and three referees took part in the World Championship in Russia. The delegation was led by Brian Church and Sergey Kitaev. In 2019, the U.S. team once again competed at the World Championship, and a koresh belt wrestling master class was held in the state of Ohio for athletes of the WildCat Wrestling Club. That same year, koresh belt wrestling was included in the program of the annual Ohio State Fair — the American counterpart of the Tatar Sabantuy — which attracts up to 50,000 visitors.

After a pause in 2025–2026, contacts were renewed. Last year, a series of master classes and competitions took place in Miami and Columbus. The current event held in the renovated hall of the IMMORTAL center marks the next step in promoting koresh belt wrestling in the United States.
